Job Description
Job Summary
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute upholds the mission of Catholic education by fostering a safe respectful and faith-centered environment conducive to student learning and growth.
Job Responsibilities
Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to maintain continuity of instruction.
Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive orderly environment.
Supervise students in the classroom hallways lunchroom playground and during transitions as needed.
Communicate effectively with students and staff; report any issues to school leadership.
Uphold and model Catholic values and participate in classroom prayer or school liturgies when applicable.
Leave detailed notes for the returning teacher including updates on student behavior and lesson progress.
Follow all school and diocesan policies including safety dress code and Safe Environment protocols.
Job Requirements
Prior experience working with children or in a classroom setting strongly preferred.
Practicing Catholic preferred; must support the values and mission of Catholic education.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Completion of diocesan Safe Environment training and background check required.
Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to different classroom environments.
