Essential Functions
This Deputy Attorney General will handle a caseload consisting of sexual assaults and child death abuse and neglect cases. This Deputy Attorney General will attend victim interviews at the Childrens Advocacy Center (CAC) and conduct pre and post arrest intakes with investigators. This Deputy Attorney General will work closely with medical professionals detectives and child welfare professionals to investigate sexual assaults child death abuse and neglect cases; evaluate available evidence for charging; and prosecute crimes supported by the evidence. This Deputy Attorney General will share on call responsibilities with other Deputy Attorneys General to assist police with after-hours investigations.
Job Requirements
Strengths should include the ability to manage complex investigations; an interest in and the willingness to learn and understand medical evidence; the ability to evaluate criminal cases and exercise appropriate judgment in case charging and resolution; and the ability to anticipate issues in litigation with the ability to research legal and medical issues accurately and effectively. This Deputy Attorney General must be able to develop a good working relationship with detectives medical personnel child welfare professionals other Deputy Attorneys General support staff and Court personnel. This Deputy Attorney General must have the ability to independently try serious cases and learn and apply relevant laws and court rules to cases. Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.

While this position is now covered under a bargaining unit a collective bargaining agreement is currently under negotiation and terms and conditions of employment may be subject to change upon its ratification.
