Compensation range:

$58.56 - $79.06

Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experience

**This is the RN Clinical Educator for ICU/CCU & NTSICU.**

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Educator together with organizational leaders will be responsible for welcoming new staff and will oversee onboarding for specialty areas. They will provide support to direct patient care staff assist with high risk patient care in complex situations and maintain a regular presence in clinical areas for bedside teaching consultation observation and collaboration. They will oversee competency verification coordination for assigned specialty areas as well as conduct coordinate and participate in specialty orientation classes/programs as needed. They will participate in continuing specialty education and mandatory education programs such as ACLS PALS NRP CHEMO etc as well as design and oversee specialty learning plans for employees with identified educational needs. They will participate in global educational programs and regulatory compliance training. They will collaborate with other educators on projects assuring appropriate distribution of information and prevent duplication of efforts. The Clinical Educator will provide service to their specialty areas in collaboration with the Education Center. There will be educational service provided for all shifts shared between the educators in their specialty areas. In conjunction with the night shift nurse mentor education will be visible and available for night shift at scheduled times (as applicable).

Cancer Center specific: They will facilitate comprehensive training programs to integrate new nurses seamlessly into the oncology departments. They will provide ongoing development to existing staff keeping them abreast of advancements in oncology care and educate staff on clinical trial processes workflows and safe medication administration. The educator is responsible for ensuring staff proficiency in the administration monitoring for potential complications of new drugs and safe handling of hazardous medications.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

  • Three years of acute nursing experience OR two years of acute nursing experience and teaching/educating experience (*exception to this is for the Radiology & Cancer Center specific Educators)
  • (Radiology specific) Three years of acute nursing experience in a critical care setting or area where procedures using procedural sedation are being used.
  • (Cancer Center specific): Three years of outpatient oncology nursing experience

Desired:

  • Bachelor of Science in nursing
  • Experience specific to the unit
  • Membership in a professional organization (Cancer Center specific)

  • Prior teaching/educating experience (Cancer Center specific)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current CPR recognition
  • Current Chemo certification (Oncology & Cancer Center focus only)
  • Current PALS certification (Pediatric focus only)
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale certification (Med/Neuro focus only) (dept tracks)
  • Current ACLS certification (Critical Care focus only)
  • Current MICN certification (ED focus only)

Desired for Specialty of Unit:

  • National certification in area(s) of expertise (i.e. CCRN ATCN CNRN OCN AWHONN)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate technical competence professional clinical judgment and sensitivity for the patient family and staff in crisis. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times. Must have the ability to coach mentor and provide training to staff. Must have excellent organizational skills. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
