At the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) we are offering a unique opportunity to collaborate with an array of building safety professional and stakeholders while overseeing DHCDs manufactured housing and industrialized building programs and playing a key role in developing and updating the statewide building and fire codes.
The Building and Fire Regulation (BFR) division of DHCD is thrilled to announce an opening for the position of State Building Codes Office Director. The State Building Codes Office Director will provide important leadership to the State Building Codes Office (SBCO) and serve as a vital advisor to the Deputy Director of BFR on issues related to building and fire codes and offsite construction. This role will hold significant responsibilities in overseeing and managing the SBCO code development technical support and offsite construction programs while ensuring efficiency and excellent service.
The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who is highly self-motivated organized team oriented customer focused and exhibits a high level of integrity. They will have strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationships solve problems and resolve conflicts with minimal supervision.
Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Providing leadership and policy direction to the State Building Codes Office (SBCO).
Managing SBCO code development programs stakeholder technical support programs and offsite construction (manufactured housing and industrialized buildings) programs to achieve agency division and SBCO objectives and goals.
Managing the code development process and schedules to ensure accurate and timely work.
Overseeing the development of customized Virginia code books and Virginia regulation publications.
Offering and overseeing SBCO technical assistance to code enforcement personnel design professionals contractors builders citizens and other stakeholders.
Overseeing the research of technical information and ensuring accuracy in BFR development and delivery of regulatory documents technical documents and training materials.
Ensuring DHCD requirements as a HUD State Administrative Agency (SAA) in accordance with the approved Cooperative Agreement are met.
Overseeing administrative and technical support of the State Technical Review Board Manufactured Housing Board and Amusement Device Technical Advisory Committee.
