Job Description
Overview of the position
Programmers are responsible for creating programs on the computer that go into machines to run parts efficiently and effectively.
Primary duties of the position:
* Analyze drawings sketches and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts selection of cutting tools and machine speeds and feed rates
* Develop programs on Mastercam for CNC machining centers
* Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machines
* Revise programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions
* Observe operation of machines on trial runs to prove programmed instructions
* Be familiar with the operation and mechanics of CNC mills
The basic qualifications for the position are:
* Must have understanding of basic math
* Must be alert careful accurate and show judgment
* Must have mechanical aptitude manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
* Must have ability to understand and interpret customer blueprints
* Must have the ability to understand machine technology and terminology
* Must have communication and organizational skills
* Ability to analyze complex and diverse information translate concepts and information into images identify and resolve problems in a timely manner develop alternative solutions
* Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and able to deal with frequent change delays or unexpected events
* Must be proficient with Mastercam
* Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
Education and experience requirements:
* High School Diploma
* Previous experience in a programming role that provides an understanding of the manufacturing environment and equipment and how to set program using Mastercam
