Job Description
Our Village of Erin Meadows has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Chefto join our Ruby Restaurant Team.

The Ruby chef is a hands on chef role that will supervise the culinary team in our Ruby kitchen and support the Ruby service team in partnership with other Hospitality Supervisors. Our Ruby chef will develop cook and prepare village and branded menus under the guidance of the Director of Hospitality (DOH). The Ruby is our 12th floor dining room offering lunch and dinner in a fully licensed casual atmosphere.
Chefs at Schlegel Villages create exceptional mealtime experiences for our residents and their families through the provision of delicious meals catered events internal delivery programs themed dinners and more.
To be successful as our new Ruby Chef you will:
- Have a passion for menu and recipe development regularly developing new features seasonal items etc. that support the branded menu guidelines
- Knowledge of cost control
- Plan a rotation of meals to support the internal delivery program
- Experience in coaching and developing a team
- Develop a rapport with returning residents and family
- Be a graduate of Chef Training or Culinary Management Diploma from an accredited college or equivalent related experience
- Possess a food safety certification
- Possess a Smart Serve
- Be excited by our objectives our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village
- Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents families and team members
- Understand the physical mental and emotional demands of the Chef role
It would be an asset if our new Chef has:
- Acquired a Red Seal designation
- Possesses an understanding of therapeutic diets
- Knowledge of relevant policies procedures legislation regulations and best practices applicable to senior living
