Support the Districts Water Resources Bureauleading a team of professional staff within the Water Supply Section to ensure assigned projects and tasks are completed timely by coordinating and supervising work of assigned professional staff. Conduct efficient and effective project and team meetings. This position will assist in setting Section Bureau and Division goals and objectives and will closely monitor achievement of goals and performance standards. Advocate and promote a solutions-oriented culture through positive interactions with staff leadership and stakeholders. This supervisory position will be responsible for approximately seven direct reports performing projects and/or tasks assigned to the Water Supply Section. Depending upon the qualifications and strengths of the ideal candidate the supervisor position may play a greater role in overseeing project management or planning staff. Youll have the chance to work with a wide range of teams in this promising position each of which plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve our most valuable natural resources. Starting Compensation:

Scientific Supervisor 1 $63000.00 - $74000.00
Scientific Supervisor 2 $75000.00 - $85000.00
Scientific Supervisor 3 $85000.00 - $100000.00

The starting salary ranges are included for Scientific Supervisor profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 50% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Hire supervise evaluate develop coach discipline and oversee daily work of assigned professional and technical staff. Participates in interviews and employee selection. Ensures compliance with personnel and other guidelines and conducts disciplinary activities in coordination with Water Supply Manager. Provides training for assigned staff. Attends staff training related to administrative and supervisory responsibilities associated with the position.
  • Review and comment on work assignments.
  • Assist with providing responses to questions from the public and other stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance to other disciplines sections and divisions. Be proficient in the use of the Districts applications.
  • In coordination with the WRB management team develops and recommends updates and improvements to internal procedures. Maintain and promote a solutions-oriented culture through cooperation collaboration assistance and public outreach. Promote a culture that values knowledge management professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Water Supply Manager or higher-level leadership. These duties may include peer review of other staffs work products covering meetings review/sign-off of work assignments and other managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Water Supply Manager.

Working Conditions

In-office: Employee works in a standard office environment. Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects weighing 10 to 30 pounds. Occasionally required to drive automotive vehicle for 2 hours or more at a time. Travel to other offices or into the field is required.

In-field: Work performed in the field may often be in remote and undeveloped areas of the District under adverse weather conditions. Travel and some outdoor labor may be required. May be exposed to extremes in elements temperature and humidity and to a variety of pests including mosquitoes and ticks. Must be able to able to bend lift carry and reach above shoulder level. May occasionally require the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle for extended periods some driving may be in off-road (4x4) conditions.

Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including on nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.

Required Credentials Scientific Supervisor

Scientific Supervisor 1

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Water Resources Engineering Geology or related field
  • Four (4) years of water resources/supply experience
  • Experience in a lead role and/or Five (5) years in the specific job profile
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education is accepted
  • Valid drivers license

Scientific Supervisor 2

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Water Resources Engineering Geology or related field
  • Six (6) years water resources/supply and supervisory experience
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education is accepted
  • Valid drivers license

Scientific Supervisor 3

  • Masters degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Water Resources Engineering Geology or related field
  • Eight (8) years water resources/supply and supervisory experience
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education is accepted
  • Valid drivers license

Additional Details

This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday out of the Brooksville FL office however some remote work may be available. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.

Travel Required

travel using District vehicle within Districts coverage area.
