This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.
The Maine CDC Office of Injury and Violence Prevention (OIVP) is looking for a comprehensive health planner to coordinate and support for injury and community violence prevention programs across Maine. This program will coordinate work focused on the prevention of suicide interpersonal violence and unintentional injury across the lifespan.
The Comprehensive Health Planner will be responsible for developing implementing and evaluating injury and violence prevention programs at the state level. This role involves working collaboratively with community partners healthcare providers and local agencies to reduce the burden of injuries and violence in the population. In this position you will ensure the integration of evidence-based practices and strategies into state-wide initiatives aimed at protecting public health and improving community safety.
Core Responsibilities:
As a key member of the OIVP team your core responsibilities will include:
Designing implementing and managing statewide injury and violence prevention programs including those focused on suicide prevention
Assessing local and statewide needs related to injury and violence and identifying effective evidence-based prevention practices and strategies
Developing strategic plans identifying target populations and ensuring programs are effective sustainable and equitable
Developing managing and monitoring grants contracts and budgets for implementation of prevention strategies
Ensuring collection and reporting of relevant program outcomes including any data or performance measure required by state or federal funders
Working collaboratively with diverse project partners consumers and providers of health and behavioral health care to implement injury and violence prevention initiatives.
Collecting and analyzing data related to injury and violence trends using data to assess the effectiveness of current programs and identifying emerging public health threats
Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders to coordinate efforts and resources
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree in Public/Community Health Health Administration Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration Government Social Work or a closely related field and three (3) years professional experience in the planning development coordination and/or evaluation of health programs or services -OR- an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education training and experience.
Preferred candidates will have:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to gather synthesize and summarize a variety of information
Ability to plan coordinate implement and manage multiple activities meeting project deadlines.
Knowledge of state and federal health policies related to injury and violence prevention
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners
Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based injury and violence prevention strategies
Excellent project management skills
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
