Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking applications for the full-time position of Assistant Womens Swimming Coach/Recruiting Coordinator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Head Womens Swimming Coach in planning and organizing all phases of a Division I womens swimming program including: recruitment and holistic development of student-athletes; training plan development and execution; home and away meet preparation and management; assisting with facility operations and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Recruiting Coordinator responsibilities include: working directly with the Head Coach to develop a recruiting plan; organizing official and unofficial visits; prospect evaluations; recruiting database management and general recruiting compliance and social media responsibilities.

Coaching responsibilities include: assisting in the development of an appropriate training plan; planning and leading daily workouts in various training group settings; and providing consistent feedback to athletes on technique strategy and developmental opportunities during practice and competition.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Previous collegiate coaching experience as Assistant Coach of a Womens NCAA swimming program.
  • Prior experience recruiting for an NCAA program.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong commitment to the academic goals of the University.
  • Excellent organizational communication and public relations skills.
  • USA Swimming Lifeguard CPR/First Aid certifications needed at time of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree.
  • National level coaching experience or equivalent.
  • Strong recruiting and/or recruiting coordinator experience on a national level.
  • Successful experience leading a training group through an NCAA training cycle.
  • Prior experience in community outreach and/or involvement with University activities.
