DescriptionWe are looking for an energetic and self-motivatedResearch & Development Technicianto support R&D and product development of nonlinear crystals and laser crystals assemblies as well as basic manufacturing / operations support. This is a fast-paced highly technical and continually evolving R&D job with exposure to different projects.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting both manufacturing and R&D
- Support optomechanical design of product development projects
- Support development engineers in the lab through participation in optical experiments.
- Execute all optical mechanical and electrical assembly at the stage of prototype as well as product assembly and testing (PCI).
- Perform optical test functions including power measurement spectral and temporal characterization of optical beams
- Assist with lab and equipment maintenance and organization
- Assist with installation of new hardware and fixtures to expand lab capabilities and capacity
- Trouble-shoot test equipment.
- Learn proficiency with multiple set-ups including microscopes.
- Work with optical components.
- Operate optical spectrum analyzers laser beam analyzers optical power meters power supplies photo detectors and oscilloscopes
- Demonstrate ability to adapt and learn
- Assist with documentation as needed
- Ensure a safe work environment and cultivate safe behaviors
Education and Work Experience:
Desired Qualifications:
- H.S Diploma required Associates degree in Technical field preferred
- Four years of industry experience; basic knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with free-space optical components familiarity with fiber components (within university course) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks. Optomechanical modelling experience and knowledge of materials is a big plus.
- General lab experience: optical spectrum analyzers laser beam analyzers optical power meters power supplies photo detectors and oscilloscopes
- Ability to read optical schematics mechanical drawings and specifications
- Understanding basic electronics components desired
- Curiosity and being a learner by nature.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in teams
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Safety
- Bright flashing lights / beams in a dark room could cause disorientation
- When working in our laser lab employees must be alert must use quick good judgment while working with lasers must be very safety conscious at all times
- Must be constantly alert with clear vision at all times
- Pay attention to all surroundings
- Use good judgment at all times
