Job Description
Position Overview:
Sparta High School is seeking a reliable flexible and student-focused Roving Substitute Teacher to join our team. This full-time position provides daily coverage for absent teachers across all grade levels and subject areas within the high school. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude who is eager to step in and support students and staff wherever needed throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide classroom instruction in a variety of subjects and grade levels based on teacher absence.
Maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment conducive to student learning.
Follow lesson plans left by classroom teachers and adapt as needed to meet student needs.
Supervise students in both academic and non-academic settings (e.g. lunchroom hallways assemblies).
Collaborate with administrators teachers and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction.
Pitch in wherever neededincluding assisting in classrooms covering lunches helping with testing or providing additional student supervision.
Foster a safe respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Michigan Substitute Teaching Permit (required).
Bachelors degree (preferred).
Prior experience working with high school students preferred.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to be actively involved in school life.
Dependability adaptability and a student-first attitude.
