The Team Youll Work With
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services is responsible for ensuring that agencies that oversee the Citys social services programming are run compassionately equitably and effectively and that the Citys public health and healthcare delivery systems are delivering results for all New Yorkers. Overseeing a portfolio with a combined budget of over $20B annually and a workforce of approximately 68000 staff the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services is focused on implementing bold efforts within and across City agencies and Mayors Offices.
Agencies and Mayors Offices reporting to the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services include: NYC Health Hospitals Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Office of Chief Medical Examiner Department of Social Services (Human Resources Administration and Department of Homeless Services) Administration for Childrens Services Department for the Aging Department of Veterans Services and the Mayors Office of Immigrant Affairs the Mayors Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence the Mayors Office of Community Mental Health and the Mayors Office for People with Disabilities.
The Problems Youll Solve
The Senior Advisor will be a key member of the DMHHS team managing both longer-term projects and day-to-day City Hall and agency business. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Agency Management: Serve as a liaison between agencies and the Office of the Deputy Mayor to monitor projects; review policy proposals budgets and public reporting; resolve roadblocks; and elevate items to the Deputy Mayor as necessary. Coordinate with other City Hall units on behalf of agencies to facilitate information sharing and ensure smooth operational processes between the Mayors Office and agencies.
-Project management: Coordinate high-priority interagency work-streams across the portfolio. Responsibilities may include liaising with agencies to track updates on progress independently problem-solving issues as they emerge convening workgroups elevating issues/roadblocks that are necessary for further team involvement and presenting on progress to the Deputy Mayor and team. Develop new projects within the Deputy Mayors areas of focus that further the Offices collective goals and support agencies to examine existing work and policies.
-Internal Communications: Strategize and coordinate with the Deputy Mayor and team members on policy issues programs and communication plans. Ensure the Deputy Mayor is prepared for key interagency and Senior Staff City Hall meetings and events; make determinations about when and how to involve the Deputy Mayor in problems that arise; and represent the Deputy Mayor as needed in meetings and events. Prepare talking points briefing memoranda and other communications materials.
-External Stakeholder Management: On behalf of the Deputy Mayor serve as a liaison with community members service providers elected officials and other external stakeholders who are communicating with the Office of the Deputy Mayor.
-Research and analysis: Perform qualitative and quantitative research in connection with policy proposals cross-agency projects and broader health and human services sector analysis. Write memoranda with recommendations from research and elevate as necessary to the Deputy Mayor.
-General support: As needed provide administrative support and coordination.

Qualifications :
-You have 5 years of related experience.
-You have a Bachelors degree.
-You have the ability and experience to balance multiple demands and deadlines.
-You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
-You have excellent organization time management and follow-up skills especially when managing multiple projects and priorities at once.
-You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel and Outlook.
-You have progressive responsible work experience with demonstrated ability to succeed in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
-You have sensitivity the ability to maintain confidentiality and use outstanding judgment on a daily basis.
