Since 1971 Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality essential and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.
As a Full-Time Psych. Care LPN at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will play a key role in supporting our staff psychiatrist in prescribing administering and monitoring medications for clients. Your responsibilities will include conducting routine physical and mental health nursing assessments to ensure that each individual receives the appropriate treatment and medication support.
Youll provide supportive counseling monitor medical needs and when necessary administer methadone. Youll also conduct intake and follow-up interviews complete physical assessments perform drug and TB testing and maintain detailed and accurate documentation. Your knowledge and attention to detail will help ensure the secure storage handling and disposal of medications all while contributing to a safe supportive and high-quality care environment for our clients.
To excel as a Full-Time Psychiatric Care LPN at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board candidates must hold a current and valid Virginia State Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the Virginia State Board of Nursing. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in medication administration. Experience in substance abuse treatment psychiatric care or long-term care settings particularly involving the dispensing of narcotic medications is essential for success in this role. A valid Virginia Drivers License is also required enabling you to fulfill various job responsibilities effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be key as you will provide supportive counseling to clients while conducting thorough assessments. Your ability to use relevant software and tools will contribute to maintaining accurate records ensuring a seamless operation in our commitment to quality care.
