The Administrative Assistant reports to the Coordinator of Library Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
- Directly supports the administrative activities of the Coordinator of Library Services and library staff.
- Manages purchase orders items received and payments and tracks expenditures from the library budget as well statistics on different aspects of the collection.
- Processes new and existing materials including checking of library materials and merchandise received against purchase orders and invoices and repairing/preserving materials.
- Assists with the ordering and cataloging process including linking item records to the online catalog.
- Creates reports new materials lists and other similar materials as needed.
- Provides support for library events and displays and performs general reception responsibilities.
- Arrive on time for work attend work regularly and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Library Services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree preferred.
- General clerical skills including keyboarding use of word processing spreadsheets and Microsoft Office software; records management; telephone etiquette; and computer/photocopier troubleshooting.
- The ability to work effectively and professionally with students staff faculty and others.
- The ability to be organized dependable self-directed self-motivated and an amiable team player.
- The ability to demonstrate verbal intelligence inclusive of understanding words following directions and responding effectively and appropriately.
- Excellent interpersonal organizational customer service and communication skills (verbal written listening).
- The ability to lift up to 30 pounds and roll loaded book trucks.
- Physical requirements include the ability to perform hand motions for keyboarding answering telephone etc.; excellent listening verbal and written communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; sedentary/indoor work environment

SALARY and STATUS:
The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This part-time support staff position is 12-months annual at-will and nonexempt. This position qualified for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) but does not qualify for the HutchCC benefit package due to the part-time status. The employee in this position will work for approximately 20 hours per week.
