Teacher - Mental Health Therapist/School Counselor
Probationary: August 25 2025 - June 25 2026
Location Dave McNeilly Public School
FTE 1.0 (may be combined with other teaching duties)
Start Date August 25 2025
Closing Date June 10 2025
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education
- Master of Psychology Social Work or Counselling with advanced practice in the assessment and treatment of mental emotional and behavioural disorders (or a significant completion of this program).
- The successful candidate will have specific knowledge and training in school counselling and be able to support regular classroom teachers with specialized teaching strategies in regards to supporting mental health.
- Providing training and support to teachers for students for student social and emotional development anxiety and instructional approaches to build student resilience and independence is needed.
- Deliver preventative best-practice interventions and related psycho-social development programs as approved by the Division.
- Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to the provision counselling services and learning supports
- Experience with making referrals for therapeutic support and outside agencies who support students and families is an asset.
- Track caseload data and evaluate the effectiveness of counselling services learning supports and student responses to interventions
- Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to records management

All candidates must hold or be able to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate have knowledge of curriculum and teaching experience at those levels/subject areas and demonstrated interpersonal and classroom management skills
