Working in a single assigned area the Phlebotomist I provides specimen collection registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital outpatient lab draw stations and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics. High volume work 50% of duties involve computer utilization with targets to meet. Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.
Minimum High school diploma.
PreferredPhlebotomy Training or Phlebotomy Technical School.
Minimum Valid Michigan drivers license.
PreferredASCP certification for Phlebotomy (must obtain certification within one year of hire).
Preferred Six months phlebotomy experience in a health care setting.
Minimum Strong interpersonal and clerical skill. Minimum of 40 wpm.
PreferredComputer skills and word processing abilities.
Familiarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system including email e-learning intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions. Ability will be assessed during the hiring process through Human Resources.
Physical/Mental
Minimum:Sitting for long periods of time (frequently); mobile; bending stooping and reaching above head and liftingand carrying as part of daily responsibilities (occasionally). Keyboard repetitive tasks of typing and phoneuse (frequently).
