Job Description

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

If youre looking for a challenging experience in technical/marketing environment our Technical Product Specialist Intern position will expose you to the latest precision motion technology that address difficult problems that make the world a better place. You will help us introduce new products and communicate this to our customer base.


As a Technical Product Specialist Intern at MKS Instruments/Newport Corporation you will partner with Product Marketing to assist with web maintenance marketing collateral competitive research demo/evaluations and work in the motion lab testing motion control products etc. In this role you will report to the Director of Product Management and Applications in France and the Senior Product Marketing Specialist locally in Irvine CA.

This is a Fall 2025 to Spring 2026 or longer undergraduate internship.

  • Part-time 20 hours per week

  • Combination of remote and on-site work

Undergraduate Internship Program Overview-

  • Fall 2025 to Spring 2026 or longer Undergraduate internship within a functional area of MKS Instruments that provides students a comprehensive and engaging experience from before your program starts to after the program ends.

  • Meaningful work and project assignments such as testing motion control products etc. in the motion lab marketing collateral competitive research and demo/evaluations etc.

  • Networking opportunities with peers and executives

  • Exposure to different divisions of the business

  • Understanding of MKS Instruments commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.


Skills You Will Bring:

  • Enrolled in Bachelors Degree program in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or relevant majors

  • Rising Junior or Senior undergrad student

  • Ideal if hands on experience working in lab with equipment and control systems.

  • Proficient with office software (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint etc.)

  • Experience with Programming is desirable

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work or general instructions on new assignments

  • Detail oriented and able to work independently

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $23.00 to $29.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected hourly pay range for this position based on a wide range of factors including qualifications experience and training operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week including 11 paid holidays sick time and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.

The application period for the intern/co-op position is estimated to be through the end of July 2025; however this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates
