Geotab is seeking a Team Lead Embedded Development Pipelines and Release who will lead and grow an embedded development team within Geotabs Embedded Engineering department. As a Team Lead for Embedded Development Pipelines and Release your key area of responsibility will be to lead a team focused on developing and maintaining robust pipelines and ensuring smooth releases within Geotabs Embedded Engineering department. You will be responsible for managing a team of other developers enforcing coding standards performing peer code reviews and ensuring the efficiency and quality of our release processes. You will also be working cross functionally with various stakeholders across the organization and will need to be an excellent communicator. This is a high visibility and impact role.
You will manage the ongoing design and development of the bare-metal or RTOS or Embedded Linux based expandability platforms.
Enforce coding standards and perform peer code reviews for designated teams.
Work with Lead developer and team members to facilitate stand-ups retrospectives and planning sessions to prioritize development activity ensure open lines of communication and encourage discussion within the team to drive improvements in quality and velocity of execution.
Participate in Geotabs Change Management process as a Change Approver reviewing and approving firmware change requests made by the team.
Assist with the development and maintenance of Embedded Development guidelines policies standards and processes.
Provide expert project leadership and guidance to the team as SME.
Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports.
Post-Secondary Degree specialization in Computer Science Software Engineering Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related field.
5-8 years of experience in embedded systems or software development/verification experience.
1-3 years of experience with previous people management experience.
Experience in SW release process SW developments pipelines including experience with Docker Kubernetes Gitlab and Build process/artifacts.
Proven experience in embedded system and software development using Python C C using bare-metal or RTOS.
Experienced in using Python SQL to develop or test embedded products.
Experience with IoT devices sensors wireless communication and data transport protocols (USB NFC BLE CAN) are highly valued.
Significant experience in designing and developing modern IoT device code on Embedded Linux platform.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including comfort with delivering presentations and training.
Technical competence using software programs including but not limited to Google Suite for business (Sheets Docs Slides).
Experience with SCRUM and Agile development practices is an asset.
Experience using Rust and/or Google BigQuery is an asset.
