Grant PUD Unified Insurance Program

Basic Function:
An employee in this position will work under the direction of and report to a Foreman Power Plant Foreman Supervising Foreman Hydro Supervisor or other designated Management employee. This position is responsible for completing a variety of work assignments focused on capital projects and/or maintenance activities as assigned by supervision. May be upgraded to foreman or assigned to other areas when required and if qualified as determined by supervision. This position may be required to pass a CIP Security Background Check.
Essential Function:
- May perform work functions individually or with the assistance of other electricians foreman mechanics operators technicians toolman apprentices etc.
- Shall keep assigned tools and equipment clean orderly securing repairs and maintenance as required.
- Be qualified to safely and competently operate equipment associated with Electric Shop functions.
- Assist in the training of apprentices as required.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED from accredited institution.
Experience:
- Valid Washington State Drivers License. Commercial drivers license may be required.
- Journeyman Electrician card/status recognized by the District and the Union within six months of date of employment per Section 2.1.1 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Valid First Aid card including CPR training equivalent to the State of Washington requirements for Industrial First Aid.
- Must have completed an approved District Electrician Apprenticeship or possess a valid Washington State (01) General Electrician card.
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently be self-motivated and exercise sound judgment.
- Have the ability to read and interpret instruction books blueprints schematic diagrams and engineering sketches.
- Possess a basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough working knowledge of the operation maintenance repair and installation of transformers reclosures circuit breakers motors generators selsyns cabling control schemes switches disconnects etc. associated with Hydro generating stations switchyards substations and their appurtenances.
- Knowledge and understanding of Washington Electrical Workers safety rules and regulations.
- Write legibly and be able to maintain records files and fill out forms.
- May be asked to become Asbestos Abatement Certified; once certified may be required to perform Asbestos Abatement when assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Able to lift 50 pounds; willing to work off a ladder or scaffolding and in confined areas.
- Willing to perform activities at unprotected heights of less than 10 feet.
- Willing to work in high noise/vibration areas.
- Work in confined spaces or areas that restrict movement.
- Work in close proximity of rotating and high voltage equipment.
- Ability to work in extreme heat or cold both inside and outside the power plant.
- Ability to reach above the shoulder level.
- Ability to differentiate colors and utilize senses (sight hearing touch feel and smell).
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders.
- Use computers and write legibly.
