The Health and Safety Manager leads the development implementation and oversight of health and safety policies programs and procedures across the organization. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements promotes a strong safety culture and minimizes risk through strategic planning and hands-on leadership. Develop and implement health and safety management systems (HSMS) and ensure alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
Lead incident investigations audits and risk assessments; ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
Ensure full compliance with local state/provincial and federal occupational health and safety legislation (e.g. OSHA WHMIS ISO 45001).
Oversee the delivery of safety training onboarding and continuous education for staff and contractors.
Analyze safety performance data and metrics; generate reports and present findings to senior leadership.
Serve as the organizations primary liaison with regulatory agencies and manage inspections or inquiries.
Promote a culture of safety through leadership communication and engagement initiatives.
Supervise health and safety personnel and provide mentorship and support.
Lead emergency preparedness and response planning including drills and scenario testing.
Support sustainability wellness and environmental initiatives where applicable.
Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science Engineering or related field.
5 years of progressive experience in health and safety with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation standards and best practices.
Experience in incident investigation hazard analysis and risk management.
Strong leadership interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient with MS Office and safety management systems (SMS).
CRSP CSP NEBOSH CHSC or equivalent professional safety designation.
First Aid/CPR WHMIS OSHA 30 ISO 45001 Internal Auditor or other relevant training.
Experience with COR certification process and maintenance (if applicable to your region).
