A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide care and treatment for patients recovering from injuries surgeries or chronic conditions. The PTA assists in executing treatment plans designed to improve mobility reduce pain and enhance the overall quality of life for patients.
Assist in carrying out physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
Guide patients through therapeutic exercises stretches and mobility techniques.
Use specialized equipment to aid in patient recovery and rehabilitation.
Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions.
Communicate with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of therapy goals.
Educate patients and their families about at-home exercises and techniques for continued recovery.
Prepare therapy rooms and equipment for patient use.
Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment.
Report any significant changes in a patients condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Record accurate notes on treatment provided and patient progress.
Adhere to healthcare regulations privacy standards (e.g. HIPAA) and safety protocols.
Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant Program (accredited).
Licensure or certification as required by the state of employment.
Familiarity with therapy equipment and techniques.
Strong communication empathy and patience in dealing with patients of various conditions and ages.
Ability to lift and support patients and remain active throughout the workday.
