Woodland Elementary School Leaves of Learning is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Family Engagement & SEL Intervention Specialist to join our team.
The Certified Family Engagement and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Interventionist for the elementary level supports the academic emotional and behavioral development of young learners by building strong family-school partnerships and implementing age-appropriate SEL interventions. This position focuses on fostering a safe inclusive and emotionally supportive learning environment for students in grades K5 while empowering families to engage actively in their childrens education.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Engagement:
- Develop and implement strategies to engage families in their childrens education.
- Facilitate parent workshops family events and training on academic support and SEL practices.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and families.
- Collaborate with community organizations to provide resources and services to students and families.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL):
- Deliver direct SEL instruction to students in individual small group or classroom settings.
- Support school-wide implementation of evidence-based SEL programs and practices.
- Assist teachers and staff with integrating SEL into daily classroom routines.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress on SEL competencies and provide targeted interventions.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Participate in the MTSS SEL team to identify student needs and develop intervention plans.
- Provide professional development for school staff on family engagement strategies and SEL.
- Maintain detailed documentation of interventions family outreach and student progress.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to inform interventions.
- Leadership and facilitation skills for engaging families and leading workshops.
- Familiarity with SEL frameworks behavior intervention strategies and family systems theory.
Work Environment:
- School-based setting with occasional home visits and community outreach.
- Flexible hours may be required for evening/weekend family events or meetings.
Additional Duties As Assigned
Supervise students during the school day according to the established building
schedule; provide indirect supervision during regular school days.
Collaborate with staff in evaluating individual student issues
Participate in meetings (building staff meetings departmental meetings grade level
meetings staff development open house/orientation) as necessary or required;
attend professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in education counseling psychology social work or related discipline.
Preferred:
- Certification or training in trauma-informed practices restorative justice or SEL curriculum (e.g. CASEL-aligned programs)
- Coursework certification or experience with family and community engagement
