Job Title:Sports & Rec League Assistant
FLSA Status:Seasonal Part-time Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports to:Taproom General Manager
Position qualifies for paid internship credit if applicable

The Sports & Rec League Assistant facilitates sports leagues tournaments and facility enhancement at Highland Brewings main campus in Asheville NC. The Sports & Rec League Assistant is responsible for providing on-site coverage and coordination during volleyball cornhole tailgate games and other sports leagues tournaments and public-facing Highland events. This position also works directly with Highland Brewings facilities team to maintain our world-class outdoor recreation facilities.
The Sports & Rec League Assistant is expected to learn and understand the rules of league play safety procedures and campus policies.
Highland has year-round sports leagues with the bulk of leagues/tournaments happening between March and December.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate on-site coordination coverage for sports leagues pick-up play and tournaments
Show mastery in League Linq software SalusPro and Highland POS system
Support Highland Facilities team to maintain outdoor recreation areas including trails disc golf course Meadow and volleyball courts
Maintain knowledge of Highland Brewing league rules and policies and demonstrate ability to communicate rules and policies effectively during league play
Update shared calendars with league and event information as needed
Understand and adhere to North Carolina alcohol laws and permits specific to Highland
Maintain knowledge of the Highland brand story beer styles campus amenities family history to educate and communicate our mission and vision to guests
Perform other duties as needed and assigned
HOURS
A predetermined schedule consisting of 18-30 (average) hours of evening league and play coverage. Schedule is dictated by sports and events programming. The ability to work nights and weekends is required. A two-week availability notice is required for schedule coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Bachelors degree in Sports Management or Hospitality is preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age in accordance with NC ABC laws
Experience:
One year of experience working in hospitality is preferred and experience in sports/athletic program development is also preferred
Enthusiasm for craft beer and delivering an incredible guest experience is required

Excitement for beer sport competition and community
Strong work ethic and ability to take initiative with identifying problems and offering solutions
Must be willing to act in the event of physical injury
Open minded and flexible with the ability to adapt quickly with new skills and procedures
Excellent time management and verbal/written communication skills a must
Must have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Teams
Working Conditions:
As this position is working in a brewery the physical demands of this role include but are not limited to:
Standing for long periods of time
Bending twisting reaching overhead lifting up to 30lbs frequently & up to 50lbs occasionally
Working in both indoor and outdoor service areas with inclement weather at times
At-Will Employment: Employment with Highland Brewing Co. may be terminated by either Highland or the employee at any time with or without cause or notice.
