About this Role
As part of Oregons Community-Centered Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training Pathway the EMT Navigator provides personalized culturally responsive and trauma-informed support to 125 participants from diverse and rural communities throughout Oregon as they pursue EMT certification and employment. This role ensures student success through individualized guidance mentorship and connections to academic institutions as well as social and community resources. As a bridge between students instructors program administrators and support services the EMT Navigator helps participants overcome barriers that may hinder academic progress or career advancement. This role also coordinates with educational institutions EMS employers and community partners to ensure a seamless transition from training to employment while gathering participant feedback for continuous program improvement.

How You Contribute to the Team:
Outreach and Recruitment
Lead inclusive outreach and recruitment efforts to engage individuals with experience in understanding and serving communities.
Leverage trusted partnerships and professional relationships with Oregon-based community organizations to build culturally responsive engagement strategies and expand program reach.
Collaborate with local workforce development boards and employment services providers to identify and connect with potential candidates.
Student Support & Case Management
Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to EMT students coming from underserved or underrepresented communities.
Monitor student progress and proactively identify early signs of disengagement academic challenges or personal barriers.
Assist students in navigating institutional systems including academic advising tutoring mental health services and transportation assistance.
Career Navigation & Retention Support
Support students in developing and refining career pathways within emergency medical services.
Provide guidance on certification processes licensing requirements and effective job placement strategies.
Support students in transitioning from training to employment through resume assistance interview preparation and employer referrals.
Barrier Reduction
Identify and help address social determinants that impact student participation and success (e.g. housing childcare food insecurity).
Partner with community organizations to connect students to comprehensive wraparound support services.
Advocate for students needing accommodations or special support in training or clinical settings.
Program Coordination
Collaborate with instructors training coordinators and community partners to ensure cohesive student support.
Participate in case review meetings and actively contribute to individualized student success planning.
Assist with data collection and reporting related to student outcomes retention and support service utilization.
Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned that support BCTs goals and objectives.

Educational Requirements:
An associates degree is required; a bachelors degree in social work counseling education emergency/disaster management public health or a related field is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
2 years of experience in student services workforce development case management or a related field is required.
Experience in emergency medical services EMT training and/or public safety careers is strongly valued.
Demonstrated experience leading inclusive outreach and recruitment efforts by leveraging trusted community partnerships developing culturally responsive engagement strategies and collaborating with workforce development boards and employment services to connect with diverse candidates is preferred.
Skills and Expertise:
Bilingual or multilingual abilities are strongly valued particularly in Spanish.
Demonstrated ability to support individuals navigating systemic barriers to education and employment with empathy and cultural humility.
Demonstrated ability to track and report student progress using data systems or case notes ensuring timely documentation and communication with relevant stakeholders.
Communication Skills:
Understanding of trauma-informed care and experience providing culturally responsive support to diverse communities.
Excellent creative critical thinking and problem-solving skills; innovative in generating ideas and solutions navigating ambiguity and thinking beyond conventional approaches.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint and Qualtrics experience and proficiency required; experience with video meetings/conferencing; ability to adapt quickly to new applications.
Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel to client sites within Oregon as required; 50% travel time estimated.
Travel is reimbursed per company policy at government mileage reimbursement rates (e.g. Oregon rate).
Occasional evening and weekend work time is required.
A drivers license and personal car use are required.
There are multiple factors considered in determining final pay for a position including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and competencies that align with the specified role geographic location education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
BCT offers a competitive total compensation package that for this position includes a base salary between $60000 and $65000 along with a generous benefits package. This is a remote position located in Oregon. Ideal candidates will live in Oregon or within 20 miles of the State border and will regularly travel throughout the State. Though we do have staff in all four time zones BCT Partners works primarily on Eastern Time. Our Client:
Oregons Community-Centered Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training Pathway is an emergency medical technician training program funded by Oregon Health Authority through a 2-year Healthy Oregon Workforce Training Opportunity (HOWTO) grant. The program focuses on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to provide basic pre-hospital emergency medical care as a part of ambulance services including patient assessment airway management and basic life support techniques. This training pathway prepares individuals to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam and become licensed EMTs in Oregon.
