The Secondary Initial Teacher Training team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced subject specialist in Secondary MFL to join our team as a Teaching Fellow. We are a well-established supportive friendly team who are fully committed to striving for excellence and aim to provide outstanding student experiences at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. We have developed a shared vision for educational excellence with our partner schools and our courses reflect our commitment to partnership working and training the next generation of secondary teachers.
This role includes teaching on the PGCE Secondary MFL programme undertaking visits to observe associate teachers in their teaching practice and providing pastoral support. You will be able to evidence that you are an outstanding practitioner of Secondary MFL with extensive experience be highly motivated well-organised and passionate about delivering exceptional evidence-based MFL teacher training. You will have up to date and relevant knowledge of Secondary MFL and the Secondary National Curriculum evidenced through your current role prior teaching experience and qualifications. You may also have evidence of mentoring one of our associate teachers in your school setting and an understanding and possibly delivered on the recent DfE changes such as the ITaPs.
You will develop and apply inspiring teaching techniques and content which fosters enthusiasm understanding and critical enquiry amongst undergraduate and postgraduate trainee teachers.
You must be able to work closely with colleagues in partner schools to establish and maintain links which ensure strong theory to practice connections. Providing pastoral support and enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University is essential to your role. You will be supported to develop research enterprise and scholarly activities which are integral to the post.
Applicants must hold a first degree and have QTS. Experience of teaching in Secondary schools is essential so too is prior experience of working in Initial Teacher Training or mentoring trainees on ITE courses. A higher degree or NPV would be desirable.
This is a part time role and as such the working days must include Mondays.
