DescriptionQuality Engineer - Machining
Responsibilities- Lead production Quality Operating System (QOS) initiatives.
- Review production quality issues and serve as liaison with other departments (Assembly Quality MP&L).
- Coordinate quality containment actions to protect customers.
- Implement permanent corrective actions (e.g. 8D 6-panel).
- Maintain quality action traceability records.
- Manage key quality documentation (FTT 8Ds Scrap Defects etc.).
- Prepare standard quality reports for reviews.
- Participate in Quality and Contamination audits.
- Oversee the departmental MQOS scorecard.
- Review and determine disposition for rejected parts.
- Lead cross-functional teams for zero defects initiatives.
- Coordinate departmental Green/Black Belt projects with the Site MBB.
- Utilize relevant quality and manufacturing systems (e.g. QLSCM Q-Net FIS POSMON).
- Establish critical characteristics and data collection methods (DCP Process).
- Document and control error proofing internal checks and containments (QCM Process).
- Apply engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes and products.
- Manage statistical process control (QDAS).
- Apply Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA/GR&R).
- Support robust use of the MTC process.
- Participate in interplant benchmarking (as needed).
- Advise on corrective actions (ICA/PCA) and risk management for non-conforming production via CPMT.
- Complete daily verification of CNC gauge reports.
- Coach teams (salary/hourly) on QOS principles.
QualificationsBasic Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical Electrical Industrial Manufacturing Quality) or related technical field. Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
- 3 years experience working within and leading manufacturing Quality Operating Systems (QOS) or similar structured quality programs
- Proven ability to utilize structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g. 8D 6 Panel) to implement permanent corrective actions
- Working experience with quality data management analysis and reporting (including metrics like FTT Scrap Defects etc.).
- Hands on understanding and knowledge of core manufacturing quality tools (e.g. SPC MSA/GR&R).
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams (Production Quality MP&L etc.).
- Experience coordinating containment actions and managing quality documentation/traceability.
Preferred Requirements:
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience leading cross-functional quality improvement teams or initiatives.
- Familiarity or experience with manufacturing quality systems (e.g. QLSCM Q-Net FIS POSMON QDAS).
- Experience coaching or training others on quality principles and systems.
- Experience in a relevant manufacturing environment (e.g. machining).
