School Nurse
Special Education Department
1.0 FTE Continuing Contract
DESCRIPTION: Work with students who qualify for special education services and are in need of medical assistance which can be delivered in a school environment. Work to support both medical and educational support if needed. Attend building/district meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: (BSN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university required. Willing and able to procure temporary Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification prior to employment as required for those holding a BSN degree. Willing and able to complete ESA certification within 2 years of being hired is required for those holding a BSN degree. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to work with students preteen to age 21. Must be able to work as a part of an educational team; able to communicate with parents and the local medical community; able to develop health plans and work in coordination with nurses. Must have a valid Washington state license to practice as an RN. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.
