Job Description

The Statler Hotel has launched a search for our next Cook S06 for our Taverna Banfi Restaurant morning team!

The Statler Hotel is the showcase for Cornell Universitys world-renowned School of Hotel Administration and for many visitors the gateway to the university. Located at the center of Cornells beautiful campusin the heart of the scenic Finger Lakes region of New York Stateit has earned the dual distinction as the Ithaca areas only AAA Four Diamond Award-winning property and the Ivy Leagues only teaching hotel.

Position Summary:

As a member of the Statler Hotels Culinary Team the line cook is responsible for:

  • The execution and completion of the daily prep list
  • Fabricate proteins cut vegetables and check pars of items against the prep list
  • Setting up the production line
  • Preparing items with speed and accuracy to order for service
  • Monitoring temperatures of all prepared foods and record them as required
  • Providing functional supervision and training to student cooks
  • Working closely with the front of house to solve problems and make sure the customer is getting a quality experience
  • Supporting other team members when able
  • Maintain efficient time management and productivity during slow periods throughout the shift
  • Cleaning the line after each period of service or when needed or directed to by supervisor
  • Filling out prep lists closing the shift while adhering to operating standards
  • Maintaining a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Reporting to the Sous Chef/Manager
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership in support of the operation.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

2-3 years of experience cooking in a restaurant hotel or resort

Understanding of cooking methods and procedures and knife handling skills

Ability to perform tasks with accuracy speed and attention to detail

Ability to read and follow cooking directions

Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment

Must be organized and self-motivated

Must be able to stand bend stretch and lift and carry heavy materials
