DEQ has an open opportunity for a Director of Intergovernmental Affairs & Economic Development.
*This position is Exempt Policymaking and is EXEMPT from certain provisions of the
State Human Resources Act (GS 126). This position serves at the pleasure of agency leadership. *
This position serves as a liaison between the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) the Department of Commerce (DOC) and the Economic Development Partnership of NC. This position focuses on the states Project development specifically related to issues that may arise surrounding DEQs environmental regulatory permitting and policy considerations. This position coordinates with federal state and local agencies to align goals and initiatives involving economic development infrastructure and policy coordination. The position will promote collaboration among the state agencies to maintain and enhance North Carolinas environment and natural resources while fostering responsible Project growth.

Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of program experience in the area of assignment including three years of managerial experience in the public or private sectors involving significant decision-making authority in the planning organizing and directing of operations in the areas of the assigned program(s); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
