Position to begin August 2025 or as soon thereafter as possible

Duties and Responsibilities

Under faculty supervision:

  • Support written assignments for BA Public Health students with assessing skills at outlining and organization of written assignments;
  • Copy editing student assignments;
  • Provide written and verbal feedback on writing skills;
  • Meet with students to discuss improvement of writing skills;
  • Assist with undergraduate capstone experience courses especially PH 480;
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Be a classified degree-seeking student in a Masters or PhD program under UHM Graduate Division admitted full-time at the UHM in a graduate-level public health degree program or related field at the time of hire;
  • Be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Maintain 6 credits per semester with the exception of those who have reached 800 (dissertation) or 700F (thesis)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English (For international students: TOEFL scores of 600/100 (paper/Internet) or above with subtest scores of 25 for listening and 25 for speaking or IELTS score of 7.0 or above for the overall band test results)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint Google Suite (Sheets Docs Slides Forms);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills; and
  • Must be responsible organized dependable and efficient.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with undergraduate students in a mentoring or teaching capacity;
  • Completion of a BA in Public Health or related discipline;
  • Completion of an MPH or MS in Public Health or related discipline;
  • Experience with professional copy-editing;
  • Experience working in multi-cultural settings;
  • Experience working with students from underrepresented minorities.
