About this role

This role sits within Preqin a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.

The Team:

Data is core to Preqins industry offerings and the data management team delivers accurate timely and complete data enhancing the value of our award-winning offerings. The trust in our underlying content enables our clients to make key investment decisions.

Besides collecting content the team collaborates extensively with our internal and external customers to improvise our offerings maximizing technology and domain expertise. The team understands the life cycle of data and establishes business intelligence reports seeking operational excellence.

Role Overview:

This is an outstanding leadership role located in Bangalore Karnataka India and plays a vital role in Private Markets Data Management at BlackRock. The DirectorHead of Data Quality & Governance is responsible for coordinating the output from the department and establishing metrics and reporting systems. By leading all aspects of a team of domain authorities focused on quality assurance this role guarantees that our data maintains unmatched accuracy and comprehensiveness.

In addition to quality assurance the role involves innovating and implementing processes to improve overall data quality. A core responsibility is the management and development of a high-performing team that collaborates with business units and understands client requirements to achieve outstanding results.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure BlackRocks data collected by the team is extraordinarily high quality meets client expectations and is extraordinary in its scope

  • Lead daily data operations with a focus on achieving operational excellence

  • Design and implement a balanced quality framework across datasets

  • Provide comprehensive and individualized reporting on the quality of partners and internal members

  • Implement practices to improve quality measurement and feedback processes

  • Collaborate with Business Units and Data Governance units to align methodologies

  • Work with Heads of Data on training hiring assessments and ensuring quality consistency

  • Build documentation for quality assessments and ensure visibility

  • Promote adherence to business definitions and document data transformations

  • Lead central initiatives analyses and internal reports for senior management

  • Act as an authority on the dataset providing support for internal and external collaborators

  • Identify areas for improvement within the global data management organization

  • Uphold and encourage adoption of BlackRocks values and company policies

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree and proficiency in English for business purposes

  • Proven experience in data/financial data services/alternative assets

  • Proven experience leading leaders and handling large operations

  • Consistent record in performance management and building high-performing teams

  • Strong operational management skills in a data organization with attention to detail

  • Hands-on motivational and transformational leadership style

  • Strategic and critical thinking skills for developing and improving quality processes

  • Experience with change management in quality and training processes

  • Good communication skills and experience working with high-level executives

  • Knowledge of business intelligence systems like Power BI/Metabase

  • Eligibility to work in India; sponsorship available for professional training

Desired Experience:

  • Experience leading mid/large-sized teams (over 40 people)

  • Organizational design skills for central initiatives

  • Experience collaborating with various collaborators to enhance processes

  • Experience working across cultures and locations or in remote management setups

  • Change management experience supporting global transitions

  • Prior experience in the alternative assets industry or financial services data management
