This position is open to current Colorado residents only.
Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacanciesincluding both part-time and full-time positions.
This position will receive a short-staffing temporary pay differential of 4% from July 1st 2025 - June 30th 2026

Description of Job

This position is in training to provide basic hands-on patient/resident care in a safe clean infection controlled environment by bathing dressing grooming hygiene skin care range of motion positioning ambulating transferring toileting programs feeding programs transporting performing basic assessments (vital signs blood pressures weights etc.) and charting/documenting all of the above.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Special Qualifications:

Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies as well as a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.


Minimum Qualifications:


Substitutions:
  • Current valid certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience in a long-term care/assisted living environment
  • Experience transporting/driving residents
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Relevant State of Colorado experience
Conditions of Employment:
  • Full Background CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons):
    CBI name check and fingerprint check ICON Colorado court database Medicare fraud database Reference Checks Professional License verification (licensure requirements) Drug Screen PREA (Division of Youth Services) Trails check (direct contact with children) CAPS (direct contact with adults Mental Health Institutes Regional Centers Veterans Community Living Centers)
  • TB Test/Flu Vaccine
  • Must be willing to obtain vaccinations as required by the State and facility
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted U.S. drivers license
  • May be required to travel/transport residents in state vehicles
  • Required to have a current valid BLS Healthcare Provider Card
  • Shift Work: While every effort will be made for the schedule to reflect the shift/days agreed upon by my supervisor and me I understand I may be scheduled on different days/shifts based on facility need. While leadership will ask for overtime volunteers as a first-line strategy to relieve staffing shortages I understand that I may be required to work overtime as a part of this position. Shift work includes weekends nights holidays
  • May require on-call status if needed per the pay plan for this position
  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position (3) provide the employee number from the applicants prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.

If you receive notice that you have been eliminated from consideration for this position you may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board or request a review by the State Personnel Director.


An appeal or review must be submitted on the official appeal form signed by you or your representative.
