Assistant Corporate Controller

Job Description

MBK Real Estate is hiring an Assistant Controller to join our team at our Home Office in Irvine CA!

This role will be hybrid with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

The Assistant Controller must regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in overseeing the month-end accounting close and consolidation forecasting and accounting process improvements while leveraging our ERP system and other technology.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee company-wide accounts payable team and process
- Responsible monthly closing of general ledgers including preparation review and posting of journal entries general ledger account reconciliations and analysis
- Responsible for monthly quarterly and annual accounting and reporting for the MRE Open-end Fund
- Oversee month end close consolidation and internal monthly and quarterly financial reporting
- Handle operational accounting analysis and assist with G&A forecasting.
- Assist in execution of accounting process improvements including ERP system efficiency and other technologies.
- Produce and publish monthly quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and related management reports.
- Assist in the coordination of annual financial and business audits.
- Serve as primary liaison with Mitsui financial personnel and MBK finance and accounting team.
- Support and contribute to special projects of the CFO and VP Controller primarily in the areas of reporting planning growth and development.



Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to work with all levels of an organization
- Must be self-motivated and customer focused

Education and Experience:

- Bachelors or higher degree in accounting.

- CPA strongly preferred.

- Strong excel skills and technically inclined mindset for process improvements.

- Familiarity with Fund and FV accounting a plus

- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS

- Excellent written verbal communication interpersonal and presentation skills.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Yardi accounting system experience preferred.

- Minimum of 2 years of Real Estate industry accounting experience preferred.

- Flexible and enthusiastic.

Physical Demands:
- Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job bending kneeling stooping pushing pulling and repetitive motion
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time
- Able to move intermittently throughout the work day and between divisions
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. and push up to 20lbs. as necessary
- Some travel required

The compensation on this role is $170000 Bonus.
