Mechanical Project Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer I that will support the North American Amazon RMR team.
Vanderlandes Amazon RMR team is responsible for the design specification and commissioning of Amazon RMR projects throughout North America. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation can be installed with efficiency and maintain excellent communication with the site team.
Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having
the soft skills to collaborate with the customer vendor and internal organization to balance priorities improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills creativity strong interpersonal skills drive and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Translate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system description which can be translated to an Request for Proposal (RfP) which can be used by Project Procurement.
- Optimize the functionality from as-sold to a working mechanical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Electrical Controls Supply Chain Installation etc.)
- 3D modeling of systems and subsequent clash detection management
- Associated 2Dcustomer approval and installation layout drawings
- Perform spatial analysis of clearance envelopes egress pathways andforkliftvehicular aisles
- Perform system and component level checks as supplied by the possible vendors
- Engineering of non-standard mechanical interfaces
- Apply safety regulations and ergonomics
- Create a motor manifest with respect to electrical and controls engineering requirements
- Document all engineering decisions through design planscomplete and clear installation files and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor
- Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys
- Support the installation and commissioning both on site and from the Marietta office
- Project document control using arights baseddatabase system
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Minimumof 5 years ofrelative work experience(or Associate ME/ET with 8 years related experience)
- Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 33% with occasionalinternational opportunities
- Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design
- Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
- Strong communicator able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
- Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities while maintaining a firm grasp of the details

Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge/Experience with OSHA 1910/29 Occupational Safety and Health Standards
- Knowledge/Experience with International Building Code (IBC)
- Knowledge/Experience with ANSI B11 Machine Guarding Standards
- Knowledge/Experience with ASME B20.1 Safety Standards for Conveyors and Related Equipment
- Knowledge/Experience with ISO 13849-1
- Experience in Using Commercially Available Project Management Software such as MS Project or Primavera
