We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Orthopaedic team with a focused role in medication management. The advanced-care provider will collaborate closely with physicians and various team-members to provide comprehensive medication oversight.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pain management and adjunctive pharmacological therapies commonly used in the chronic pain and post-operative population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive medication assessments and histories for new and established patients.
- Initiate adjust monitor and discontinue medications in collaboration with supervising providers in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
- Manage pain medications including opioid and non-opioid therapies while adhering to state and federal prescribing regulations and clinic protocols.
- Monitor for and manage side effects interactions and efficacy of medications.
- Educate patients and families on medication regimens potential side effects and safe medication use.
- Utilize the EMR for documentation e-prescribing and coordination of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards regarding controlled substances and medication safety.
Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current and unrestricted RN and NP licensure
- National board certification as an NP (e.g. ANCC or AANP).
- DEA registration and state-specific prescribing authority for controlled substances.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pain management (preferred).
- Understanding of pharmacotherapy pharmacokinetics
- Excellent communication clinical judgment and organizational skills.
