ABOUT SINGULAR GENOMICS

The commercially available G4 Sequencing Platform is a powerful highly versatile benchtop genomic sequencer designed to produce fast and accurate results. Position Summary:

As aResearch Associate on the Histology team you willbe the foundation ofplatformdevelopment by maintaining and sectioning FFPE tissue blocks;supportdevelopment of our proprietary tissue mounting system; use your background knowledge in histology and molecular diagnosticsto identifycontrols workflows andenhancements to improveassay robustness and reliability;aid in expanding our assaysto new tissue types and provide guidance and expert adviceto assay developers for interpreting results and expectations andbe the voice of histology when working with customers and collaborators.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FFPE tissue sectioning and assessment usingtraditionalhistochemical staining such as H&E familiarity inmolecularassayson preserved tissue(e.g. IHCIFISH/FISH) using a variety of microscopy readouts (brightfield fluorescence etc.) and be comfortable following established complex assay workflows.

You will be working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists in the fields of surface chemistry engineering biochemistryand ideally suited to a candidate who is self-motivated and excited by a startup environment where opportunity to rise to frequent and diverse challenges is commonlyencountered.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a microtome to produce consistent high-quality FFPE tissue sections.
  • Support development teams by providing expert advice and guidance on tissue handling experimental design expectations and interpretation of results.
  • QC FFPE tissues prior tousingin assay development.
  • Actively contribute to optimizing in situ workflows.
  • Establish standards for onboarding and assessing performance of standard and new tissue types.
  • Collaboration and effective communication with team members in (surface) chemistry biochemistry systems integration image analysis and bioinformatics.
  • Maintain meticulous notes and databases of relevant reagents experiments equipment and other processes.
  • Contribute to writing SOPs and other documentation.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Biochemistry/biomedical sciences or related field plus 2-3 years of histology experience.
  • 1-2 years of microtomy experience.
  • Hands on experience in precision microtomy with a focus on minimizing tissue loss of precious samples.
  • Understanding of healthy and diseased clinical samplesis a plus.
  • Working knowledge of fluorescence microscopy is a plus.
  • Experience with molecular pathology assays (e.g. immunohistochemistry in situ hybridization immunofluorescence) and performance in different tissue types. Experience with multiplexed assays is strongly preferred.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $68640 - $92800. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to an individuals qualifications location where the role is to be performed internal equity and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
