Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports the safe efficient and effective operation of district buildings and grounds by performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks. This includes repairs and upkeep of HVAC electrical plumbing carpentry and general building systems. The technician ensures school facilities are well-maintained meet safety standards and support student Duties and Responsibilities:Perform routine maintenance and repairs across all school buildings including electrical plumbing HVAC carpentry and mechanical to maintenance service requests in a timely manner and document work preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment per established clean and safe work areas; follow proper procedures for handling tools and with snow removal groundskeeping and seasonal work as with custodial staff and external contractors on facility-related and report safety hazards needed repairs and potential facility accurate records of inspections repairs and work event setup and breakdown including furniture/equipment moving and minor other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Qualifications:High school diploma or of 3 years of experience in building maintenance or knowledge of HVAC electrical plumbing carpentry and general building drivers license and reliable to lift up to 50 pounds climb ladders and work in a physically demanding troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal pass a CORI/SORI background check and fingerprinting per Massachusetts state Qualifications:-Massachusetts trade licenses (e.g. journeyman plumber electrician HVAC certification)-Experience working in a public school or institutional environment-Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS)- Basic knowledge of plumbing electrical carpentry and HVAC systems- Ability to operate cleaning and maintenance equipment- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills- Physical ability to lift heavy objects climb ladders and work in various environmental conditionsWorking Conditions:Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather be required to respond to after-hours emergencies or work occasional to cleaning agents dust noise and machinery.
