The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is in search of motivated innovative team members to further ongoing government artificial intelligence research. Our autonomy services support multiple echelons of dynamic mission planning and execution from strategic operations down to vehicle autonomy. We blend the use of common programming languages like Java and Python with lesser-known logic programming solvers and our own complex event processing domain-specific language then wrap it into a DevOps framework that deploys through containers. The qualified applicant will join our technically diverse team that includes computer scientists engineers operations research analysts and mathematicians.
Planners and operators interact with our autonomy services to define and refine mission-specific goals preferences and constraints. This input is applied to domain models with local contextual information and the decision services reason over possible courses of action to determine the most appropriate selection for the situation.
The role will include development of domain decision models software development of autonomy support services integration and testing of services for simulation testing and multiple objective optimization.
No candidate comes into our group with all of the skills that we use on a daily basis so we invest in tutorials and mentoring. We are looking for candidates that bring pragmatic expertise in at least one aspect of what we do and will give you the opportunity to grow into the others.
BS in Computer Science Linguistics Engineering Operations Research Mathematics or similar discipline OR 3 years of programming work OR 1.5 years of programming work plus an Associates degree
8 years demonstrable experience with ONE OR MORE of the following:
* Software development in object-oriented language (e.g. Java Python C# Rust)
* Logic or constraint programming (e.g. clingo prolog Z3 SAT solvers)
* Operations research optimization with multi-criterion decision analysis (MCDA)
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen and willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Advanced degree in Computer Science Linguistics Engineering Operations Research Mathematics or similar discipline.
High-level logic programming concepts (e.g. default reasoning action languages)
Logic programming language construction and compilation
Applied game theory experience
Applied artificial intelligence and autonomy technologies experience
Practical experience with container virtualization and management technologies (e.g. Docker K8s)
Software development processes including source control issue tracking continuous integration and requirement flow experience
