Functions as an integral part of the patient experience team by utilizing the clinical process to assess implement and coordinate the patient plan under the direction of the surgeon.
Reports to: Assigned Physician
Supervises: none
Delegates to: Registered Nurse C-Medical Assistant Schedulers and Receptionists
Classification: Salaried/Exempt
Qualifications:
Requires a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License
Licensure within the State of Wyoming
ATLS Advanced Trauma Life Support
Masters Degree
Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel
Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of surgical technique
Professional and friendly disposition
Occupational exposure:
Exposure to blood borne pathogens operating room and office exposure
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates respect for the dignity of all patients families and visitors and ensures implementation of patient care is executed and implemented.
2. Answers patient questions and provides clinical judgement within the scope of practice according to licensure.
3. Communicates patient questions or concerns to the provider.
4. Ensures appropriate clinical data including referring records radiological images progress notes lab results and any other pertinent data is in the patient chart prior to the start of clinic. Input health history into chart prior to first visit so it is available for physician to review.
5. Provides patient education related to pre-operative instructions routine post-operative education and medication questions that are within the scope of practice of the mid-level.
6. Assesses patient s incisions drain sites and other concerns when delegated by the providers.
7. Conduct H&P/pre-op 2nd appointments for established surgery patients and new endoscopy patients.
8. Place all surgery pre-op and post op orders send in patient discharge prescriptions.
9. Assist in OR with all surgeries except endoscopies.
10. Conduct daily AM rounds on hospital inpatients and outpatients that stay overnight.
11. Enter daily inpatient progress notes discharge summaries brief op notes etc.
12. Take trauma call as scheduled by Banner Wyoming Medical Center.
13. Other duties as assigned by physician.

The employee must be able to lift and or carry 20 pounds
The employee must be able to sit or stand for at least eight hours a day
