Job Description
Are you ready to take your C expertise to the next level in a high-stakes defence project At ALTEN UK we are looking for a Senior Software Developer to contribute to cutting-edge embedded software development for advanced opto-mechanical systems used in submarines. This is a rare opportunity to work hands-on with real-time embedded systems leading agile processes while actively coding and integrating C solutions on PIC-based microprocessors.
Location:
Glasgow (On Site presence required)
Security Clearance:
Must be able to hold SC clearance (5 years in the UK minimum)
Key Responsibilities:
- Embedded C Development Design develop and integrate real-time software for mission-critical defence systems.
- Software Integration Work closely with hardware teams to integrate C applications onto PIC microprocessors.
- System Optimisation Develop high-performance reliable and low-latency software for embedded platforms.
- Security & Compliance Ensure software meets defence industry standards and secure coding practices.
- Problem Solving & Debugging Apply a pragmatic hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
Qualifications :
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7 years of experience in embedded software development with C.
- Strong background in real-time embedded systems and low-level programming.
- Experience with PIC microcontrollers and hardware-software integration.
- Defence or aerospace experience is highly desirable.
- SC Clearance eligibility Must be able to obtain Security Clearance (SC) (5 years living in the UK minimum).
Education:
- Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in Software Engineering Computer Science Electronics or a related field
- OR equivalent experience in a relevant UK military/defence technical background.
