Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and energetic Group Worker (Youth Worker/Teacher Aide) to support our summer after-school program. The ideal candidate will assist Group Leaders in supervising and facilitating activities such as homework help arts & crafts sports fitness nutrition dance and STEM education.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the health safety and well-being of the participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Will help the Group Leaders supervise engage and administer enrichment and recreational activities for youth and families.
- Provide a safe and fun environment for participants in the After-School Program.
- Assisting in the implementation of homework help tutoring and a variety of age-appropriate theme-related activities.
- Assist with the distribution and collection of participant and parent surveys.
- Work cooperatively with peers professional staff and other departments.
- Maintain equipment storage facilities and inventory.
- Work closely with the Group Leaders to ensure best practices and program quality meet contract expectations.
- Assist the Group Leaders with maintaining accurate program documentation (incident accident and behavioral reports attendance and sign-in/sign-out sheets).
- Consult with the Program Director when difficult or unfamiliar situations arise.
- Actively participate in all training sessions designated meetings and special events.
- Will maintain a close relationship with and report to the Program Director and administrative staff for delegated tasks and future assignments.
- Complete all job-related tasks and use program time effectively during scheduled working hours.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be a college student or a certified matriculating college attendee
- Able to pass an OCFS background clearance.
- Must be able to provide a complete medical including a PPD exam upon hiring.
- College students will be responsible for implementing a variety of diverse activities for program participants
- Prior experience in youth development or working with children preferred
- Highly organized detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Demonstrated integrity and discretion in handling confidential matters
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse teams
