Job Description

Data Science and Analytics is an ambitious team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers with a unique blend of Business Scientific Machine Learning and AI expertise that seeks to unleash the full potential of AbbVies data assets by bringing technology and/or data and insights to the forefront of decision making via fit-for-purpose solutions.

The Sr. Manager Medical Monitoring Analytics is a data science project leadership role and is responsible for helping cross-functional partners identify and prioritize sophisticated analytics solutions to create value and impact for clinical trial medical monitoring. Drives Analytics innovation and experimentation to enable data-driven insights for complex business problems. Ensures consistency in analysis techniques and delivery.  Accountable for gathering cross-functional input into the development of Advanced Analytics capabilities and ensures follow-through via robust project management and stakeholder engagement. This position will not have people management responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of next generation technology and process to enable enterprise data analytics on pace with emerging integrated data sources (biomarker/translational big data digital sources real world data pharmacovigilance data clinical trial data)
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring junior team members. May include indirect supervision of employee and contract staff
  • Drive the definition design implementation and validation of cutting-edge algorithms to analyze disparate data sources to achieve targeted outcomes by leveraging advanced analytics machine-learning and/or Artificial Intelligence approaches predictive and statistical modeling concepts clustering and classification techniques
  • Leads cross-functional initiatives with matrixed teams; Connects with cross-functional leadership and enables analytics capabilities to drive data-driven operations and decision making
  • Influences the cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities to unleash the full-potential of data and analytics
  • Represents the functional area at critical governance quality and compliance and regulatory meetings
  • Ensures consistent analytics support through effective resource management prioritization and timeline management.
  • Fosters innovation and entrepreneurial culture within the team that attracts and retains top talent; Creates an environment of continuous learning
  • Ensures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) ICH Guidelines AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to functional quality standards.  Stays abreast of new and/or evolving local regulations guidelines and policies related to clinical development

Qualifications :

*This position will be required to sit on-site 3 days / week*

 

  • Bachelors degree statistics analytics bioinformatics data science or equivalent field. Masters degree preferred
  • Must have 4-6 years of experience with enabling novel analytics capabilities across business areas with 1-2 years of experience leading a team or cross functional initiatives
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in R Python or other statistical packages. Intermediate-level knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques
  • Intermediate proficiency with visualization tools like Spotfire Tableau or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical trials conduct and trial execution. Ability to apply domain knowledge to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize impactful analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience with Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques preferred
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills including data storytelling. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in laymans terms
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional leaders
  • Good understanding of clinical development functional areas and related processes


Additional Information :

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. Salary: $121000 - $230000

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation holidays sick) medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. 

  • This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs
