Job Description

Director of Warehouse and Custodial Services
Hendrix College is seeking a full-time 12-monthdepartment member to serve as Director of Warehouse and Custodial Services. Reporting to the Facilities Management Executive Director this position directs the day-to-day operation of the Warehouse and Custodial Department including: staff assignments performing the duties of department director training of the warehouse and custodial supervisory staff conducting routine inspections of buildings contractor liaison warehouse and custodial supplies inventory maintenance managing the flow of warehouse work orders and event set-up requests and other duties as assigned. The Director should have the ability to work with a group of people while maintaining an orderly work environment and good morale.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist the Facilities Management Executive Director in daily duties.
  2. Maintain SDS documentation for the Facilities Office and all custodial storage areas around campus.
  3. Maintain records for OSHA compliance
  4. Manage Pest Control work orders for campus
  5. Manage Sanitation Department communications necessary to operate Facilities Management.
  6. Act as Safety Coordinator for Facilities Management.
  7. Act as Training Coordinator for all Facilities Management staff.
  8. Estimates the scope cost tools equipment and materials for particular jobs.
  9. Reviews current industry data concerning new products and technology.
  10. Compiles written reports and makes oral presentations.
  11. Adjust job duties for absent employees on a daily basis as needed.
  12. Responsible for purchasing control issuing and monitoring of Custodial and warehouse supplies for/in all areas across campus.
  13. Assist in the inspection of all facilities for compliance with cleaning standards.
  14. Report to the Facilities Management Executive Director on conditions in the buildings related to housekeeping. Be able to recommend changes and improvements for the custodial staff.
  15. Able to assist custodial staff in the care maintenance and operation of all cleaning machines and other equipment.
  16. Able to assist the warehouse staff in planning and execution of large projects.
  17. Able to assist custodial staff in any technical phases of housekeeping work. Assist with training program.
  18. Must positively communicate with students faculty and staff in completion of work.
  19. Performs specialized tasks during weather conditions and college closures. In the event of unscheduled closures due to weather events and/or other circumstances serves as essential personnel for reopening the college.
  20. Responsible for staff coverage of all buildings on a daily basis as needed.
  21. Duties require walking bending stooping climbing ladders lifting moving and/or pushing/pulling of moderately heavy objects.
  22. Work environment is not controlled and may be subject to extreme weather conditions.
  23. Hazardous chemicals may be present which require use of caution and safe handling.
  24. Must be able to work flexible shifts. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
  25. Must complete all required training as scheduled.
  26. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to read write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Post secondary vocational or technical education is preferred.
  • Must be able to bend stoop climb ladders move and or push/pull equipment.
  • Must be able to lift over 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required.
  • Current Arkansas drivers license
  • Thorough knowledge of MSOffice Applications (Word Excel Access etc.) and Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • General experience with typical office equipment and computer systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills including establishing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Ability to relate effectively with many different types of people.
  • Ability to multi-task while dealing with numerous interruptions.
  • Willingness and ability to work as a friendly and productive team member is expected.
  • Punctuality and a good attendance record a must.
