Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Assistant Superintendent II at Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area for The Office of Land Management. This position will provide guidance and training to assigned staff reassign staff to meet day-to-day operating needs operate trucks and tractors trap and release birds for field trials attend meetings and review construction plans to prepare for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 19000-acre Rend Lake Reservoir Wayne Fitzgerrell SRA is a gateway to Southern Illinois biggest outdoor playground - a paradise for outdoor recreation for all ages and interests. The park offers outstanding opportunities for hunting fishing camping picnicking hiking and other outdoor recreational pursuits. Essential Functions
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Supervises and participates in maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
- Coordinates various construction of ongoing projects with planners contractors and engineers.
- Assists with pheasant hunting program and other special hunts and events.
- Provides input and gathers data for preparation of the annual and seasonal plans of work.
- Assumes responsibilities of the Site Superintendent in the absence thereof.
- Prepares and reviews the fuel reconciliation reports as well as the camping fee reports.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires education experience equivalent to a bachelors degree with courses in public administration park and recreation administration natural resource administration or a related field and one years related line supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of working knowledge of the principles and practices of site administration conservation structural grounds maintenance public relations and personnel administration.
- Two (2) years of experience assigning and supervising the work of assistants and staff members.
- Two (2) years of experience in problem solving situations encountered in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
- One (1) year of experience in evaluating program effectiveness and making recommendations on policies and procedures.
- One (1) year of experience in operating and maintaining tools equipment and materials utilized in the maintenance repair and care of site resources artifacts buildings and grounds.

Charged with preserving protecting and promoting Illinois natural and cultural resources Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) employees oversee water wildlife wetlands and oil wells parks historic sites and everything in between. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites to hiking hunting fishing boating and camping.
Work Hours: January 16 - October 31: Friday-Tuesday 7:30AM - 3:30PM w/ 1/2 hr. Lunch (Wed/Thurs off);November 1 - January 15: Wednesday-Sunday 6:30AM - 2:30 PM w/ 1/2 hr. Lunch (Mon/Tues off)
