Position Summary:
The Shop Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean organized and safe work environment throughout the service department. This includes routine cleaning of service bays equipment and floors as well as assisting with the removal of used parts and general shop upkeep. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting the overall productivity of the service team.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Cleaning:
Sweep and mop service shop floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.
Empty and sanitize shop trash cans throughout the day.
Maintain cleanliness of technician stalls customer waiting areas and service drive as needed.
Keep walkways stairwells and common areas free of debris and hazards.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance:
Maintain and clean the steam cleaning room ensuring it is in safe working condition.
Regularly clean and maintain shop tools and equipment reporting any malfunctions.
Keep oil tanks drains and other service-related equipment in proper condition.
Parts Removal and Handling:
Assist technicians with removal of used or worn parts such as rotors brake pads filters etc.
Properly dispose of or organize parts per dealership policy (e.g. warranty returns or scrap bins).
Support Functions:
Assist with deliveries or moving vehicles when required.
Support technicians with general shop duties as needed.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA safety regulations.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience in an automotive environment or shop maintenance role is preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs bend kneel stand for long periods and work in varying temperatures.
Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge helpful; ability to operate shop equipment safely and effectively.
Team-Oriented: Works well in a fast-paced environment and communicates effectively with technicians and service staff.
Reliability: Strong work ethic attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
Familiarity with automotive dealership processes.
Forklift certification (if applicable).
