To help facilitate our expanding business RMS Energy is currently seeking aTransformer Technician Ito join our dynamic and fast-growing team. OurTransformer Technician I is responsible for the installation assembly maintenance repair and testing of a wide variety of transformers from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Location: Portland Oregon or other nearby cities or states.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the assembly of transformers (radiators bushings conservators).
- Perform de-gassing procedures to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Re-gasket transformers and create new gaskets/O-rings.
- Remove broken parts and prep for transportation.
- Perform pressure testing and vacuum with a dehydrator unit.
- Troubleshoot control wiring.
- Complete the work orders as assigned and complete daily tasks related to the repair order.
- Safely operate industrial and construction equipment following capacity and load limits.

- Ensure vehicles tools and equipment are in safe operating condition and perform necessary maintenance.
- Follow all company policies procedures safety guidelines and environmental specifications for the area especially related to spill containment.
- Support the Sales team in providing leads for potential projects.
- Assist in recruitment efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 0-3 years of experiencetransformer oil work transformer testing transformer assembly transformer service or transferable experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Class A CDL preferred.
- OSHA certification and TWIC card are a plus.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office online tools and basic computer skills.
- Previous experience operating electrical equipment and shop tools is a plus.
- Prior experience de-gassing and oil processing preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both internal and external customers in a positive and professional manner
- Knowledge or related experience in prepping units for disposal following proper environmental disposal procedures is a plus.
- Able to work independently and complete projects with minimal supervision.
Other Requirements:
- Work location varied depending on client and project assignment.
- Must be willing to travel; minimum 80%.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and periodic unannounced random drug tests and a pre-employment criminal background check.
- Must be able to drive daily to customer job sites and be available for periodic overnight travel.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime and occasional weekends holidays and nights.
- Valid and current drivers license with a clean driving record.

Working Conditions:
This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call outs and to work extended hours including evenings nights weekends and holidays as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions near low- medium- and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet and confined spaces adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites.
Physical Requirements:
The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly fine motor skills for handling small components and tools and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort including standing bending pushing digging pulling kneeling crawling and reaching for extended periods is required. Good vision including color vision and depth perception and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally proficiency in speaking hearing reading and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
