CPMC Mission Statement
Grounded in the Gospel mandate and Catholic Social Teaching the Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition (CPMC) promotes ministry to all people affected by incarceration and detention. Our goal is to recruit train support and empower those called to this ministry. We strive to create a more just and merciful criminal justice system that upholds the dignity of every human person and advances restorative justice.
About CPMC
The Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition is the central hub for all Catholic jail prison and detention ministries in the United States. We offer:
- A shared virtual space for best practices interest group dialogue and collaboration;
- Educational monthly webinars Town Halls on best practices Advocacy Town Halls and yearly events;
- Database of organizations and resources for people who have been affected by incarceration and detention;
- Prison ministry Foundational Training (English Spanish and Juvenile detention ministry tracks) and specific issue training for dioceses Catholic organizations and individuals;
- Support of ministries serving victims the incarcerated those who work and minister in these contexts and their families;
- Opportunities for joint action and legislation on behalf of criminal justice reform and promotion of restorative justice practices; and
- A professional development pathway for the next generation of jail and prison ministers and change agents.
Position Overview
- This position is full-time 40 hours per week remotely based.
- CPMC is seeking a person who has a passion for justice and the marginalized especially those impacted by incarceration and detention. This position seeks to ensure that Catholic prison ministers across the country are connected supported and equipped through high-quality formation opportunities and a growing national network.
- CPMC needs a person who is committed to strengthening and expanding our programming while deepening relationships with dioceses Catholic organizations and individuals involved in jail and prison ministry. This person will help position CPMC as the central hub for education support and advocacy for Catholic prison ministers.
Position Responsibilities
Program Strategy Development & Implementation (40%)
- Oversee and evolve CPMCs formation programs including the Foundational Training (English Spanish and Juvenile versions) Trauma-Informed Care Human Trafficking and other offerings in development.
- Recruit and coordinate facilitators and participants for training courses and other programs through strategic relationships with dioceses ministry leaders and organizations.
- Lead the development and refinement of curriculum and courses in collaboration with content experts ensuring all programming is responsive to the evolving needs of the field.
- Manage the implementation and continuous improvement of educational programs presently including monthly webinars town halls and special formation events. Collaborate with ministry partners subject matter experts and Catholic organizations to identify relevant themes develop content and support presenters in crafting engaging mission-aligned sessions.
- Oversee course integration and maintenance on a learning management system including participant tracking course updates and technical coordination.
- Lead the coordination and facilitation of retreats and virtual gatherings that spiritually form and support coalition members.
- Monitor program engagement and performance lead data collection analysis and evaluation efforts to ensure program effectiveness identify areas for growth and inform strategic planning.
- Track participation feedback and program data to support organizational learning and grant reporting.
Coalition Building & Partnerships (35%)
- Serve as a relationship-builder with diocesan leaders prison ministries and Catholic justice organizations across the country.
- Develop and implement strategies for building a national coalition of Catholic prison ministers that fosters education support and information sharing.
- Respond to inquiries from individuals discerning a call to prison ministry and provide guidance resources and local connections to support their involvement.
- Create opportunities for community-building among ministers through retreats support groups and other initiatives that foster connection renewal and shared learning.
- Identify leaders amplify ministry voices and promote partner efforts within the CPMC network.
Outreach Promotion & Communications (15%)
- Collaborate with the Communication Manager to develop and distribute promotional materials for programs and events.
- Contribute to CPMCs newsletters website and social media presence with timely content about programs and partner ministries.
- Represent CPMC at conferences virtual gatherings and public-facing opportunities as needed
Team Collaboration & Organizational Leadership (10%)
- Participate in cross-functional planning with a lean mission-driven team.
- Report regularly to the Executive and Steering Committees and attend CPMC leadership calls.
- Support the development of strategic goals that align with CPMCs vision and the national needs of prison ministers.

The Program and Partnership Manager is supervised by the Executive Director.
