Job Description

ENTACT is actively seeking a motivated and experienced Structural Welder in the environmental remediation and geotechnical construction industry.
This position is responsible for performing various job tasks on hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites. Work performed on hazardous waste sites may include possible exposure to lead PCBs H2S arsenic and various other metals chemicals and conditions. Structural welders will be responsible for component fit-up and alignment installation and all welding preparation and clean up. Applicants must be familiar with the equipment used for welding a variety of metal structures machinery tanks etc.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training required
  • Per diem / living allowance and trips home.
  • Subject to a background check & physical/drug screen
  • Experience with SMAW welding process
  • Pre-employment welding examination may be required
  • Must be able to wear PPE when needed
  • Will require frequent and extended travel to project sites
  • Schedule M-F occasional Saturdays

Full Time Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour plus overtime per state law travel pay and per diem per company policy.
Nationwide/Regional: Candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the US. Project locations will vary depending on the assignment. Candidates can reside anywhere within the US
Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform work safely in accordance with ENTACT safety policy and procedures.
  • Maintain welder certification per customer and company procedure specifications.
  • Set-up troubleshoot and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
  • Use of structural welding tools and equipment including grinders buffers files arc gougers stress relieving machines etc. for welding preparation and clean-up. Tack-weld components to secure them in position for welding.
  • Must be familiar with the equipment required to perform SMAW GTAW FCAW-S FCAW-G and/or GMAW processes based on project need and in the correct positions (horizontal (2G) vertical (3G) and overhead (4G) as required).
  • Must be familiar with weld acceptance criteria and perform front line examination of the welding work performed.
  • Responsible for component installation fit-up and alignment as well as all welding preparation and clean up.
  • Preheat and weld metal components as specified by blueprints welding symbols job specifications or welding procedures.
  • Make welding repairs and correct substandard welds.
  • Ability to properly use fillet and butt weld gauges.
  • Verify position of metal components in assembly using straight edge combination square calipers and rule.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites including work areas to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Work in confined spaces including permit required confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of materials machines and tools including their hazards designs uses benefits repair and maintenance.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of Job Safety Analyses observations and other reports.
  • Promote the use of Stop Work authority.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and contribute to a positive safe high-quality culture in a fast-paced environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Visual Activities Required:
Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include:

Physical Demands:
Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include but are not limited to:
  • Most work is performed while standing or walking.
  • Must be capable of working under physical stress conditions such as heat stress and cold stress during various weather conditions and potentially long workdays.
  • Possibility of frequent and prolonged use of respiratory equipment (i.e. half-face full-face SCBA etc.)
  • Heat extremes when wearing certain types of PPE. Wear Level C and D PPE including cotton Tyvek chemical protective coveralls eye and face protection hand protection etc. Potential for Level A and B PPE exists.
  • Working on elevations such as scaffolding bridges buildings etc. for extended periods of time.
  • Expected to lift objects weight 1 to 25 lbs. on a regular basis and may be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual labor including materials handling digging and lifting as well as physically moving pumps hoses and other equipment or materials.
  • A persons weight and tools/equipment including clothing must comply with manufacturers specifications and/or restrictions related to use of ladders and/or fall protection equipment.
  • Working in loud or noisy environments.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include:
  • Outside construction site.
  • Terrain is rugged and may be difficult to navigate.
  • Dusty and windy atmospheres.
  • Confined spaces.
  • Hot Environments.
  • Potential airborne exposures to dusts mists fumes and vapors in concentrations not exceeding OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits (PELS) or other published occupational exposure limits.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Different types of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be worn including but not limited to hard hat hearing protection such as ear plugs or muffs eye protection such as safety glasses goggles face shield etc. welders helmet safety vest various types of gloves including leather Nitrile latex etc. steel toe boots and various respiratory protection such as dust masks half face and full face respirators SCBAs APRs etc. may be required depending on site conditions. Respirator use can require the user to be clean shaven. Protective coveralls include cotton Tyvek fire retardant chemical protective etc.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge: Must possess the necessary skill sets to pass the pre-employment welding examination as needed. Must be familiar with welding equipment required to perform FCAW-S FCAW-G TGAW GMAW SMAW and/or SAW processes.
  • Experience: 1-3 years experience in welding in construction environments and/or environmental/remediation projects preferred.
  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent. Certification from a recognized organization such as the American Welding Society (AWS) preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: HAZWOPER 40-hour training and current refresher. Valid state issued drivers license preferred.
