Job Description

Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Controls (HVAC) Technician

Hours of Work: 6:30am 2:30pm

Rate of Pay: $31.34/hour

About the Role

Reporting totheLead Supervisor of Energy and Safe Environment theincumbent willperform inspection maintenance and repairon the Boardsheatingventilation airconditioningand refrigeration equipmentand associated controls.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Works independently to complete assigned work efficiently and economically ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act relevant regulations/building codes and Board policies/procedures. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Detailed troubleshooting and investigation of concerns
  • Provision of estimates of time and materials for work projects assigned
  • Wearing personal protective equipment
  • Working from heights
  • Working in restricted areas (confined space/regulated substances)
  • Perform preventative maintenance at assigned buildings
  • Ensure that all HVAC equipment is operating to regulations and standards analyze the efficiencies of existing HVAC systems to maximize energy savings
  • Assist in response and investigation of occupant indoor environment concerns
  • Maintain accurate HVAC equipment information incorporating additions deletions and modifications to facilities HVAC systems
  • Assist in providing inspection commissioning operational verification and acceptance for new school HVAC systems and equipment
  • Assume a leadership role working with helpers staff and contractors
  • Off-hours response to emergency and routine calls relating to HVAC systems
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a Valid TSSA G1 Gas Technician Certificate issued in the Province of Ontario.
  • Experience with related equipment such as building automation controls (Johnson Controls Metasys Siemens Insight and Convergint SchneiderElectric Struxureware preferred) air handling units variable speed drives boilers heat recovery equipment and feed water systems motor control equipment and general electrical distribution systems chillers variable refrigerant flow systems heat pumps fan coil units cooling towers humidifiers pneumatic controls.
  • 3 to 5 years of building HVAC maintenance experience.
  • Valid Class G drivers Ontario license.
