Kindering is dedicated to maintaining a highly trained licensed and certified team of professionals. Current services include comprehensive developmental assessments; physical occupational speech language and infant mental health therapy; special education; family counseling; nutrition and feeding therapy; childcare consultation; parenting education; and family resource coordination.

Purpose

Provide occupational therapy to children with neurodevelopmental disorders and provide education on each childs therapy program to parents and other professionals involved in childs care.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assess each childs functional motor skills/abilities/challenges; conduct formal evaluations of performance; design and implement treatment plan at Kindering; prepare progress reports; review medical reports; seek medical referral consultation and advice as necessary; and maintain accurate records of contact for each child.
  • Educate family/care givers in therapeutic interventions; design and/or assist in developing and ordering adaptive equipment.
  • Make referrals to appropriate community or Kindering programs support groups and other services
  • Assist in supervision of student therapists.
  • Provide or support outreach intensive informing care planning coordination anticipatory guidance for complex health needs assistance to access services consultation resource development interagency coordination training program planning quality management and administration to support Medicaid programs.
  • Assess each childs functional motor skills/abilities/challenges; conduct formal evaluations of performance; design and implement treatment plan in Center home or community childcare as needed; prepare progress reports; review medical reports; seek medical referral consultation and advice as necessary; and maintain accurate records of contact for each child.
  • Evaluate home daycare or school situation through site visits if indicated; educate family/care givers in therapeutic interventions; design and/or assist in developing and ordering adaptive equipment.
  • Participate in the development of each childs total program as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate enrollment/transitions into appropriate community or Kindering Center programs support groups and other services; coordinate case management meetings with community agencies.
  • Facilitate Individual Family Service Plan conference in cooperation with Family Resource Coordinator.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy; masters degree preferred
  • Valid Washington State professional license
  • Looking for additional language proficiency with Spanish preferred
  • Training in neurodevelopmental treatment techniques preferred
  • Experience and comfort with interacting with diverse populations
  • Infant feeding experience highly preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to demonstrate dependability and punctuality

Minimum Prerequisites

  • Possess a valid Washington State DOH OT license or be in process of obtaining one
  • Demonstrate skill in word processing and familiarity with MS Word and Excel
  • Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Strictly maintain confidentiality of all client information
  • Maintain valid unexpired proof of identity during employment
  • Pass tuberculosis test
  • Ability to show proof of current immunizations including COVID-19 and MMR vaccine or titer test*
